Don’t get mad at me, but what’s the big deal? So is it such news that the world hates the Roman Catholic Church? Was the Nazi Holocaust just about Jews? Didn’t they kill Catholics and gays, communists and Gypsies, tramps, and thieves as well? I don’t mean to be so flip about it but the “World” hates religion, especially the Catholic Church - because we speak out about issues that matter; like no abortion, no contraception, no gay marriage, no extermination of peoples - otherwise known as genocide. I mean, the Church contains and preserves the full deposit of the Faith and Truth. The world hates us. Praise God! - so “rejoice for your reward is great in Heaven!”
The “DaVinci Code” is fiction, and bad fiction at that. Totally stupid. Now if someone had really made a good juicy film about the decadence in the Church and Italy during the Rennaisance, that would be pretty exciting. Instead “Oppie” chose to do this film. The trailers look great - the film looks exciting. No wonder people want to see it. It’s going to be like “The Last Temptation of Christ” however - you know, Scorsesi’s bomb of a film. No one really believes this crap. If they do it just might bring them closer to the faith if their curiosity leads them to try and investigate it further. That’s what happened to me when I first saw “Jesus Christ Superstar” - and I ended up coming back into the Church. Geeze! Don’t make such a big deal about all of this crap - unless you’re part of the promotional tour. (Yeah, that’s right Catholics, keep condemning it to drive up attendance!) As it is every Catholic author is trying to cash in on the subject in order to debunk the Code. It’s just crap. Cardinal-whoever-you-are in Rome and prelates elsewhere around the world - take care of the real problems in the Church - like liturgical abuses and mixed messages about condom use, and that other stuff that’s been in the news for the past few years. Don’t worry so much about a bad film.
