The retraction…

Sort of.

(Pictured, Faye Dunaway in her role as Joan Crawford in “Mommie Dearest”. She used to get pretty upset about things.)

Last Sunday’s bulletin from St. Joan of Arc stirred up many negative feelings about SJA, the Archdiocese, and generalized dysfunction in the Church of the U.S. I believe it goes that deep, why else would people make a big deal about some off-campus social justice meeting featuring a so-called woman priest? I posted bits (see “Nothin’ To Blog About“) from the “Pastor’s 2 Cents” column as well as a bit about the upcoming GLBT retreat St. Joan’s is sponsoring. (Evidently that is just about all the pastor has to offer is 2 cents worth of influence in a parish run by committee. Fr. Jim is not the toughest guy around.)

Today’s column offers something of a retraction - all of 2 cents worth. After quibbling as to how the announcement got in the bulletin in the first place last week, Fr. Jim attempted to write a bit about tradition this week - but kind of mucked it up. Although he is eliciting great sympathy from some of SJA’s critics who acknowledge it’s going to take a lot of work and effort to bring SJA up to speed - maybe by “baby steps” - to use one man’s expression. Whatever.

I don’t want to reprint the text of Jim’s retraction, I’ll simply mention a few thoughts about it - go here for your own read. He obviously believes that there were woman priests in the early Church - something many people like to believe - but it isn’t true. He says he doesn’t invite people to the priesthood, despite his love of being a priest, because of the exclusivity of priesthood - because it is not open to others - namely women. One may infer that he also recognizes that it is not open to married men, nor homosexuals - any longer. As lesbians were in the back pocket of radical feminists, pro-GLBT parishes are usually in the back pockets of women’s ordination activists. (You pat my butt and I’ll pat yours.)

The homosexual agenda works hand in hand with the radical feminist agenda - they have been long time companions in the effort to dismantle Catholic teaching and discipline. It doesn’t take a scholar to recognize that.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…makes me sleepy on this rainy Sunday afternoon. :)
