That 3 o’clock thing…
I never saw the movie ”Emily Rose” but I’m familiar with the story - especially the 3 AM “demonic witching hour” thing. According to legend, Judas betrayed Our Lord at 3 AM, hence it has become an hour, or time of night the devil is most active, and much evil is committed. The Virgin also stated as much in her apparitions in Rwanda.
I know when I was out and about in my night-clubbing days, 3 AM was about the time many wicked things took place. In the Trappists, I always made certain I was in choir by 3 AM to pray in reparation for the sins committed in that hour. (Vigils were at 3:30 AM, if I remember correctly.)
I mention all of this because I was awakened suddenly last night at 3 AM. I was deeply distressed - I did’nt recall the Emily Rose thing until now, instead I thought of the Virgin of Rwanda. Blessing myself with holy water and holding my rosary, I prayed in reparation for the sins being comitted at that hour, and for the conversion of sinners. The sense of evil vanished, and I was able to go back to sleep.
What prayers did I use? The Divine Mercy prayers for 3 PM honoring the Passion of Christ, as well as prayers to the Holy Virgin. There is also an excellent exorcism prayer to the Holy Face I often use:
“Arise O Lord and let your enemies be scattered, and let those that hate you flee from before your Holy Face!”
Has anyone else experienced similar things during the night? Please share them in the comments section.

I also heard the 3AM thing was because Christ died on the Cross at 3 PM. The devil, being the inverse of Christ, uses 3 AM as his hour to destroy the world rather than redeem it as Christ did. Thoughts?

I think you are correct, my dear little freak.

I often wake up during the 3:00 hour, sometimes with that eerie feeling of evil. Sometimes I wake up from a nightmare at that time.
The other night, I woke up at exactly 3 am, both hands outstretched, palms upward. I had been dreaming of a crucifixion, I think, as the last vestiges of the dream fell off me. I had a rosary ring on my hand and I began praying until I fell back asleep.
I believe it is actually very common for people to awake during this hour. It is certainly a call to prayer.

Terry,
Drew Mariani had a show on this 3:00 am phenomena a couple of weeks ago. He said people are waking up all over the world at 3:00 am. The phones were off the hook. People kept on calling telling that they, too, were suddenly awake at or around 3:00 am. They all agreed that it was a call from God to prayer, in reparation and for those dying during the night.
I used to wake up around 3:00 am all the time but I had not lately, probably in the last two years. After the Drew Mariani show, I asked Jesus that if He wanted to wake me up to pray He could. That night I was suddenly awake at 2:58 am. And I have been waking up on and off around 3 am for the last two weeks.
I usually start praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and random Hail Mary’s in my sleep. Most of the time I fall asleep while praying, I hardly ever finish a complete chaplet or a mystery. I did hear in that show that you could ask your Guardian Angel to finish your prayers for you should you fall asleep.
Pretty cool, uh?

It is also common for the REM sleep cycle to begin about 3-4 hours after one goes to sleep. This is when dreams tend to be more explicit….

Yes! Occasionally, I have experienced a strong sense of foreboding in the night. Just the other day it was the 3 a.m. hour. My cats were very nervous as well. I pray St. Michael the Archangel and call upon my various patron saints for protection.

I expeirenced an ‘attack’ of sorts @ 3am as well. I woke up thinking my son was crawling into bed with me. I saw a creature at the foot of the bed trying to get in and I was literally paralyzed with fear. It was right before my Easter Vigil in 2005. I prompty jumped out of bed & doused the entire room with holy water and slept clutching a rosary until Easter.

This explains a lot of things. Thanks for sharing!

Yes…the 3am kick.
Ask your guardian angel to wake you up before. Have a “flexible -routine.” Quick into the bathroom, cold water, deep breathe, pray. When you’re done, go back to sleep.
Sometimes Jesus won’t intervene to “slow time down” as you sleep or bless you with an extra-refreshing sleep (to make up for what you have “lost”), to teach you…sometimes He will…to teach you.
Let me put my tin-foil lined hat on a second, there: okay, I am sure that some very wicked things (infant-child sacrifice) are happening in the early hours accross, for instance, north america, during the early-morning hours. I’ll leave it at that.
The Chaplet of the Holy Face is very effective:
“Arise O Lord and let your enemies be scattered, and let those that hate you flee from before your Face!” is reputed to be the verse from scripture Satan hates the most.
