How you doin’?

Holy Thursday
Lent is just about over…so how did you do?
The only thing I was successful in giving up was my job. I hope that counts.
Of course I gave up this and that, but I ended up consuming that and doing this.
Can I start over?

Pick yourself up and make the remaining time before Easter the best you can.
I did not do everything I intended either.

DAVID’S LINE Maundy, misty, night.
Gray shadows ‘fore the white.
In silence stripped to wood.
Bared-hard for fifth day, Good.
Then blackest as dawn breaks,
Bursts Light and Limbo wakes.
Where militant, suffering bound,
Reached Church triumphant’s ground.
David’s line…Abraham, Sarah.
Coeli et…Domini est terra!

I don’t know. Maybe giving up your job for Lent will start a new trend.

You can always start over.

Lent…it was the best of times, it was the worst of times….
Nothing turned out like I expected. My pagan coworker has treated our customers in a more Christian manner than I have. That’s hard for me to swallow.
I found my god-daughter and was able to help bring about a death bed request for an elderly nun.
Lent is good. Lent is hard. I think the main thing is this: did I listen for the Lord to speak to me?

Finish strong, Terry! I planned to become a Saint by Easter, fell short, and unless I’m martyred for my faith this weekend, I will still fall short.
So don’t worry…just offer your sacrifices for the next couple of days and God will bless your efforts.
I hope he blesses mine, too, as pathetic as they were.
God is so good and patient!

Terry,
Your personal goals may not necessarily have been achieved, but your posts, particularly those on the Lectio Divina and Saints of yore have made powerful impacts on me and I’m sure many others. Also the “resurrection” of Don Marco and his “Vultus Christi” blog from your past and into our present has had a similar impact.
I’m going to postpone my Lectio work until Easter Monday, but I will be going full tilt from then on.
But don’t sell yourself short, Terry. I speak from experience. I majored in that in college.

Oh, Terry. The penances which God sends us are better than the ones we think up for ourselves, because we can’t pat ourselves on the back. The stuff that happens to us while we are planning our schedule for becoming holy is highly meritorious if we accept it all from the hand of God. There is nothing better than coming out of Lent feeling like a great sinner and total failure. It means one is beginning to make some headway into self-knowledge. Just offer it all up and keep looking at Jesus.Your meditations for Lent have been rich and beautiful. HE is with you, and our Lady is with you. Happy Easter!
