St. Crispin of Viterbo

Painting: St. Francis and Franciscan Saints.
St. Crispin of Viterbo is another lay-brother saint of the Capuchin Franciscans. Tradition In Action has a nice biography on him. He died on this date in 1750.
Both St. Felix and St. Crispin were members of the Capuchin convent on the Via Veneto in Rome. Go here to tour the famous crypt of the Capuchin church.
Although St. Crispin was hailed a saint in his life time, there was a certain nun who held him in contempt and treated him badly when he resided at the convent in Orvieto, to this treatment the saint replied; “Praise God that there is one woman in Orvieto who knows me and treats me as I deserve.” He meant that statement. May he pray for me for the humility to recognize my own faults and be pleased when others point them out to me…or rather, find them out.
