Pope Benedict in Assisi

Posted by Terry Nelson on Jun 17th, 2007

The Holy Father praying before the San Damiano crucifix at the Basilica of Santa Chiara today.  The Pope is in Assisi to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Conversion of St. Francis.

“Saint Francis is not a proper person to be patronised with merely “pretty” stories. There are often any number of them; but they are too often used so as to be a sort of sentimental sediment of the medieval world, instead of being, as the saint emphatically is, a challenge to the modern world.”- G. K. Chesterton

How dare you use a Chesterton quote on the day after the completion of the 26th annual Chesterton Conference at which you were a no show for the 26th time.

Next year they are going to upgrade the location if that is your problem.
