And Heeeeeere’s Fr. Zuhlsdorf!
Posted by Terry Nelson on Jul 11th, 2007
This morning, Fr. Zuhlsdorf has one of the most entertaining posts I’ve ever read. It is a statement made by Sr. Joan Chittister - her response to the recent Summorum Pontificum from the Holy Father. Fr. Z responds to each of her points as if it is a conversation. If such an exchange between Fr. Z and Sr. C were to take place, it would make a great short subject comedy film. Very fun.

Terry: I’d pay real money to see that exchange. I think a lot of security would have to be hired.
How about a panel on the meaning of “full conscious and active participation” with Father Z, Father Altier, Sr. Chittister and Fr. McBrien? Yikes.

Don’t scare me like that, Terry. I’m too old for frights like that.
I saw the headline “And Heeeeere’s Father Zuhlsdorf!” and as I scrolled down, what to my wondering eyes should appear but Sister Joan, Empress of Dissidents.
While I don’t agree with her on the death penalty issue, she could have some credibility if she kept her thoughts to that issue.
But, like many organizations in need of numbers and $$$, she decided to be the font of wisdom on “all things progressive” and immediately lost all credibility and perhaps her soul.

Cathy - If all those people were together, then it would be called “The View” - without Rosie. What struck me so funny was Father’s gentle tone in response to her statements - like she was some sort of mental patient and he was her therapist. It’s really funny.
Ray - The peace and justice people have very good, valid points on many issues - they just should have kept their hands off liturgy and Catholic doctrine.

with Father Z, Father Altier, Sr. Chittister and Fr. McBrien
Father Corapi would be a good one for that panel, too.

do you ever wonder what she dreams about at night? Now who was the wise one who pronounced, “liberalism breeds insanity”? … or something like that …

Maybe she’s not familiar with the ‘Our Father’…
?!

I’m astonished how crazy she is. Her commentary on the Rule of St. Benedict is actually very good! How she got off the track is beyond me.

I went off on her, too, having read a few posts from a few bloggers. But Fr. Z.’s was the best.
