What true devotion really is.
I still can’t get over the story about the state of her soul, revealed in her letters to her confessor and spiritual director…

I’ve heard say that Satan is confounded more by those who do the will of God and love Him despite aridity of soul - than any other. This saintly soul would qualify it would seem.

I remain astonished at the revelations regarding the soul of Mother Teresa. I thought someone like her would be on a perpetual love fest with God. Really. Maybe that shows my ignorance, but it’s truly what I thought.
Contrary to what some are now saying, I think this makes her life an even greater model for us and reveals her as a true saint….a person who practiced heroic charity.
This morning when the alarm went off at 5:30am I thought: okay, Mother Teresa got up at 4:30am and didn’t feel like, I can get up an hour later……where as last week I would never have thought anything she did was difficult since she always seemed happy, had sisters around her, traveled the world. That’s just what I thought.

I have also read that Mother Teresa enjoyed the beauty of nature, and that she radiated love to those she ministered to. I have to think that these things, also, are authentic. That perhaps, though she felt an inability to experience God’s presence in a direct way, maybe she saw His reflection in the world he created, and in other people. We experience our lives on many different levels.
