Fuzzy thinking.
An engaging priest…
A priest in Italy expelled a member of his parish for exposing his ‘love affair’ with a local woman. The priest admits to being in love with the woman in a chaste way, yet denies fathering her child. He intends to become engaged to her, insisting Canon Law does not forbid it.
According to the priest, “Canon law does not forbid a priest to fall in love or become engaged in a celibate manner. I want to remain in the Church and so I will obey the celibacy rule.” - Catholic World News
The priest argued in a press conference last month that the Church’s celibacy requirement meant that “only the most closed and narrow-minded priests, the least humane ones, get ahead”. - Catholic World News
I’m sure he is only following his conscience.

If United States Supreme Court judges regularly cite International Law and the laws of other nations in their decisions, why I guess it would only be fair for the Church to accept Mormon and Hindu, JW, SDA and Scientology arguments should be accepted by the Church, shouldn’t it?
After all isn’t being Fair what it is all about?

I had to read this three times before I understood what the deal was. The priest is the father of the baby, not the expelled parishoner…now I get it. Hey, priests can do this, right? Isn’t this just a rehash of the Thorn Birds?

Our good and true friend Fr. D has always said “the road to hell is paved with the skulls of priests.”

Lord have mercy on us! I heard Father Corapi say that the crisis of leadership in the Church is a punishment for the sins and disobedience of the people. Here is yet another example it would seem. We must pray more for our priests.

I believe Canon Law prohibits being “in love” even though it may not have a physical expression/ demonstration.
