Holy $%*@!
Just what we need, more Catholic blogs!
Cardinal Ruini said that religious should start to blog in an effort to correct misinformation about Jesus on the web:
“The 76-year-old prelate admitted, “I don’t understand the Internet, but especially young religious ought to enter blogs and correct the opinions of the youth, showing them the true Jesus.”” - Zenit
Actually, that isn’t a bad idea - if well educated and devout religious start to blog, Catholics may not be wasting so much of their time surfing the blogosphere and ending up with so many crazy ideas…
However, does the Cardinal realize what a distraction from the spiritual life blogging can be? How it can remove a religious from community life? Or what an idol the Internet can become?
Look how it has ruined my life!

I sent my suggestion to the Chancery about six hours ago that somebody there should be emulating “Cardinal Sean.”
I haven’t been excommunicated or indicted yet, but my bags are indeed packed.
Now if you cut the number of your blogs back for 47 or so down to say, single digits, you might find blogging to be less distracting and idolatrous.

That was intended to be “interdicted” but I think that’s wrong, too.
I think you can only interdict cities or countries.

Good idea Ray.

Terry–”Look how it has ruined my life” LOL–I’m glad your blogging! But, it can become a bit addictive–and very time consuming–just think if we spent as much time praying as blogging–we could change the world!

These folks have a jump on it. But then again, what does one do in a powergrid failure?

Tara has a good point - if we spent all that blogging time praying…

Couldn’t get into your comments yesterday…maybe it was a sign that I had been on the computer too much.
This made me think about my kids. When they are old enough, if technology hasn’t gotten beyong blogging, would I let them have a blog? I actually think it’s a good thing and could help them learn practical skills along with being able to defend and articulate their faith. There are some drawbacks, but think it would be more positive than not.

I loved to know what the 37* blogging religious that I link too think on the matter. ;-P
I ofter wonder where they find the time. I blog, therefore I don’t work. So that can’t be good if you’re clergy.
On the other hand, I enjoy the homilies of Fr. Tim and refreshing joy of Fr. Daren.
