Sunday morning rubbish.
More “nothing to blog about” stuff.
I still owe that man who referred to my posts as a bunch of rubbish, a debt of gratitude. He put everything in perspective for me. I know how to label my posts now.
I’m sick today - I think it is just a terrible cold, lodged in my chest. I went to 9AM Mass, and even though I was hacking and coughing and sneezing and blowing my nose, everyone around me insisted upon shaking my hand at the “hello” before mass started, and at the sign of peace. I think they are nuts.
I noticed two men a few rows ahead of me, both the same age, with three small children. I wondered if they were a gay couple who adopted children. One guy was Hispanic, and the kids looked different from one another. I laughed to myself because I realized that is what some people might think, since if two men live together in the same house, most people assume they are gay.
During the homily I was halucinating on the marble communion rail, and thought I could do a painting like what I saw. I could see in the pattern of the marble huge crowds swarming towards the gate of heaaven. You had to be there I guess. I realized I just may have a fever.
After communion I went to sit in Our Lady’s chapel to avoid the “Please stand if you are going to do something important this week” - you know, so we can raise our hands and pray over everyone. As I sat trying to make a thanksgiving, I heard the gentle strains of “Lord of the Dance” in the background. I hate that song - I hate the term dance when used in reference to the spiritual life. I hate liturgical dance too.
I’m going back to bed now.
Don’t forget, next time you are having a polite conversation with someone, start acting like commenters on blogs, and shout at them if you disagree with what they just said, or call them an idiot or something. Socially, it should work like a charm.

Hi, Terry, love your blog and read it all the time. The tune of “Lord of the Dance” originally belonged to a lovely song “Simple Things.” It’s often played this time of year because its theme is about thanksgiving. As for your cold, you need chicken soup, orange juice, honey lemon cough drops, a warm blanket, and lots of rest. I’ll keep you in my prayers!

Terry, you need some Mandarin Spice tea with lots of honey in it.

Get better!! Hope your cold eases off quickly. My husband has the same thing and I’m just waiting for the kids to get it and then me ;}
I think Haugen and Haas are teaming up with Flatley to do “Lord of the Liturgical Dance” just for you.

Dear Terry,
I hope you get better soon. I did not go to Mass due to some bad dental pain from a dental appointment last week. My hubby drinks a lot of fluids when he has a cold and it helps me get rid of a cold a bit quicker.
Peace,
Kate

Thanks everyone! I wasn’t fishing for sympathy, but it is nice. Especially when I woke up cranky.

No sympathy from me then….LOL! I will just complain about that hideous shot of Michael Flatley, he of the fake brogue.

RE; THE BEST MASS IS TLM
JUST SAY NO TO THE N.O.
ST AGNES STILL DOESN’T HAVE TLM
FR UBEL KNOWS BETTER
FR ECHERT IS THE ONLY PRIEST WITH REAL COURAGE
WHY ANYONE PRIEST OR LAYMAN WOULD CHOOSE A MASS IN THE PROTESTANT STYLE IS BEYOND ME

Terry: SURE, as soon as I come back, you take to your bed with a fit of vapors.
I thought that was a photo to Ray during his circus days.
I HATE that song too.
I hope you feel better soon. I’m praying for you.

Terry,
Sometimes, I’ll have my knuckle stuck into the baby’s mouth to keep him from fussing, and people will stick their hands out at me for the sign of peace. Okay, lady, peace and baby spit be with you.

Terry:
Hope your feeling better soon–if you lived close by, I would make you chicken soup with rice–it’s very good. But instead I’ll just pray for you:)
Although, maybe you should try painting your halucination picture of people swarming toward Heaven in the Communion rail pattern–maybe it really was a vision–LOL

Terry, what the heck were you thinking going to Mass while coughing, sneezing and hacking away? Are you one of those “virtuous” people who comes in to work sick and brings the whole herd down? No offense, but stay the heck home next time. You’re really NOT doing anyone any favors by being there when you are in a contagious state! I hope you didn’t drink the Communion Wine too.

Karen - I knew it ws all my fault! LOL!
I tried to sit away - but people just gravitate to me - not.
I didn’t drink from the communion cup though.
