What if this is as good as it gets?
If we really considered our last end - and really believed it is going to happen - we may not continue to act the way we do.

Someone–I can’t remember who– said, on earth for some this is all the Heaven they will ever know and for others this is all the Hell they will ever know.
But in the everyday doldrums we sometimes forget we are just Pilgrims on a journey–this life will NOT last forever–it will pass.
We need to live our lives in a State of Grace–the next moment could be our last!

I think St. Teresa of Avila wrote wisely with this maxim:
“Remember that thou hast but one soul; that thou canst die but once; that thou hast but one life; which is short, and peculiar to thyself; that there
is but one blessedness, and that forever; and thou wilt despise many things.”
