Illegal immigrants.

Meditating upon the mystery of the flight into Egypt, I recalled how the Blessed Virgin, the Child Jesus, and St. Joseph were themselves little more than homeless immigrants…

Good point, Terry. I don’t know if you’ve read “Christ the Lord, Out of Egypt” by Anne Rice, (yeah, I know, a little shaky). It is, however, an entertaining account of what might have happened in those early years of Our Lord.

But, the Holy Family were fulfilling a prophecy: “I called my son out of Egypt”. Also, they didn’t mean to stay, and the left for sake of the Child’s life. They left for real persecution, not just because they percieve that “the grass is greener on the other side”.
Example of right immigration due to persecution:
1.Iraqi Christians. (we make there people jump through hoops to get in here)
2. Cuba: I never have a problem with Cuban’s seeking refuge from the Castro regime, we should take as many of them in that land here, but 25 Million from Mexico, just because they are neglected by their corrupt, racist Gov’t? (They are the racists, most of the Mexican leaders are caucasian, most coming here are of mestizo origin. They are dumping their “unwanted” on us, and if we don’t agree with thier policy, we’re the ones who are called “racist”.) Nifty trick, heh?
If we just take all people who want to come here because they are poor, we will have 70-80% of the world’s population jumping fences in Texas.

Holy Trinity Polish Mission Church in Chicago uses the image of the migrant Holy Family with a background map of Poland in White and Red on some of its literature and handouts

One of the joys of returning to the U.S. — although not as an immigrant — will be reading Abbey-Roads again, dear Terry. I got in last night and Vultus Christi is now up and running again too. Ciao!

Well, the Holy Family WERE subjects of Rome. They never once left the empire so they aren’t the same as the immigrant who came here illegally and has a job doing faulty wiring in someone’s new house.

Beautiful painting…
can’t imagine what it was like traveling like that while pregnant.
