Sainte Face

This day, Shrove Tuesday, is also the feast of the Holy Face of Jesus, as my dear friend and prayer partner, Paula reminded me, and Elena had posted on.
When we gaze upon the Holy Face, let us recall how he was betrayed by falsehood… especially by religious persons, or those who pretended to be, who spoke well of him to his face, yet plotted against him in secret. And remember those who mocked him, spat at him, and pretended to do him homage, offering specious praise, while slapping him and spitting upon him.
