“Gay is as gay does” - Forrest Gump’s cousin.

Pushing the agenda.
A local gay activist who happens to be what I term, a neo-protestant-Catholic, often writes posts for his blog concerning the variety of ’sexual behaviors’ as regards gay men. Not all gay men like the same things, the same music, or the same sexual experience. (Of course that is essentially true - personal preference differs in numerous ways between persons.) The point he attempts to make however, is that not all gay men go in for anonymous sexual encounters in public areas - and I believe that.
That said, he claims one of the chief reasons gay men act out in dangerous and illegal venues, such as public restrooms, parks and so on, is because societal rejection of homosexuals has shamed them into this anonymous sexual behavior. He claims that most of the men acting out in this way are closeted homosexuals or bi-sexuals.
“This is what gay people do.”
Most of the homosexuals I’ve known, no matter if they are in a relationship or not, told me they just happened to like anonymous, casual sex. Single gay men told me that if they couldn’t find a date, a visit to the local cruising site would do. These men consider themselves emotionally well balanced, they are well educated, and they are highly successful. In fact, when asked, they pretty much agreed with the George Michael statement, “This is what gay people do.” (Although some of them probably think he’s trash because of his drug use.)
Of course, my friend attempts to sanitize gay behavior and cites as many academic studies as he can to support his theory that same sex genital activity is not immoral. He claims the other more disgusting expressions of homosexual sex are aberrations, and if homosexuality was accepted, the sexual practices would be as respectable as heterosexual relationships. (His argument sometimes reminds me of the Whitney Houston interview; she was obviously high, and when asked about drug use, she proudly stated, “It’s not like we use cheap street drugs.” Similarly, I guess there is a difference if gay sex is performed in a restroom or in a bed.)
The right to public sex.
Anyway, this long, sordid introduction is only to highlight a news item from the Netherlands - where gay is okay, and has been for quite sometime. In the land where almost every vice is legal, and gays have nothing to be ashamed about, gay activists in Holland concede that anonymous public sex should be legal. (Remember, this type of shameful behavior is supposed to go away if gays are accepted.) Here is the article:
Amsterdam, Mar. 11, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Dutch homosexual activist groups have expressed their satisfaction with a recommendation by Dutch police officers that the country permit sex in public parks.
A report by Dutch police suggests that sex in parks be allowed provided that it take place away from playgrounds and that contraceptives be properly disposed of.
In Amsterdam, some public parks already permit sexual activities. - CWNews
It’s always one more cockeyed concession for these people, isn’t it?
