Gorbie denies he’s a Christian.
So, were the friars just making it up?
I posted last week that Gorbachev was praying in Assisi and that the friars at the basilica of San Francesco said he admitted to being a Christian. Now he is denying it. Is it the press who screws the stories up - or do others just make this stuff up? I’m telling you, I’m getting to the point where I don’t believe anyone any longer.
Last evening I watched Frontline on PBS exposing the manipulations of the Bush administration to depose Saddam Hussein and get us into war. The evidence seems pretty clear people in the administration were lying.
And take a look at the current presidential race and the lousy candidates. Does anyone tell the truth any more?

Thanks to Paula for the Gorbachev update.

I don’t believe the media. I don’t believe any politician. Take all things with a grain of salt, except that which is in Scripture; and even THEN ensure that’s translated by Holy Mother Church & not some televangelist peddling the prosperity gospel.

I think the Enquirer is safe though. LOL!

Quite frankly, the “Gorbie is Christian” just didn’t compute in my mind given the company/business partners he keeps.
Unless it is this type of “Christian”:

“Taking Christ out of Christianity”
A couple of years ago a relative who was helping to host Gorbachev during a lecture event, told me “Gorbachev is a Christian” … and my reply was “define Christian”. It raises questions, as the dear Rev. in the article linked above does, as to what the end goal of their Christianity or belief system (now atheist for Gorbie). I am afraid from what I have been reading more and more, it ain’t a vision that includes the Catholic Church as we know it.
Pray for our Church, our Pope, Bishops and priests & our children.

Then again, Gorbachev is probably familiar with having a different resume’ for the home folks than he does for his outside world.
Pray for him anyway. His “cooperation” was critical for the fall of the Soviet Union.

I missed the Frontline documentary. I had been looking forward to watching it and it completely slipped my mind.
Terry, have you ever watched the Frontline documentary The Man Who Knew? It’s about an FBI agent named John O’Neill who investigated many of the terrorists attacks that took place before Sept. 11th. He kept warning government official the Al Qaeda was coming back to finish the job it began with the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. Unfortunately, O’Neill did not have very good diplomatic skills and had a tendency to irritate his superiors. In the summer on 2001, ostracized by the FBI, and ignored by his superiors, he left the bureau and took a job as head of security for the World Trade Center. He was killed there on September 11, 2001. You can watch the documentary online.
