Monsignor Ganswein…
Posted by Terry Nelson on Apr 21st, 2008

Some people have asked me what Monsignor is wearing under his trousers to create the line across his legs. His trousers are for hiking and the lower legs zip off to make shorts. (The photo was taken when he and the Holy Father were on vacation in the mountains.) Monsignor is very athletic.

Do people really have nothing better with which to concern themselves?

Hmmm. Anonimo asks if every move, gesture, garment or accessory must be of semiotic significance and convey unspoken agendas, hidden proclivities. Looking for cilicium are they, perhaps there is a hair shirt under there too?
One wonders if secreted away in the robed folds there hides a “Discipline” waiting to be brought out in a moment of penitential fervor. Aprehendite disciplinam nequando irascatur Dominus, et pereatis de via justa!
But then perhaps a cigar is just a cigar, after all and convertable hiking pants are needed for the atmosphere at Albano Laziale.

I hadn’t noticed the pants deal, just thought it was cool that the Pope and Monsignor were walking around together saying the rosary. It is a very nice photo. I hope the Pope has the Monsignor to confide in. I cannot imagine what conversations they have

Fortunately for us, we have a grad-u-ate of Daytons Marketing Division to keep us abreast of the latest in fashion innovations for the customer who needs to be prepared for rapid climactic changes brought about by Global Warming.

Good grief! His pants hadn’t even registered in my mind. What’s wrong with people?

The most touching thing to me is that Monsignor Ganswein is carrying the Holy Father’s jacket.
He is obviously devoted….

I find the oohing and ahhhing over the monsignor distasteful. He is a priest and a servant to the Holy Father. This should be the end of the story. Too many people are focused on his looks and this is disturbing especially amongst Catholics

Sanctus - I agree - but every time I post on him - it seems I get another hit from the Vatican.
Crescat started it anyway.
