The Apostle of Rome

Pictured above is St. Philip Neri in ecstasy.

SOME THOUGHTS ON LOVE AND ECSTASY FROM JOHN OF THE CROSS:

“Once when being asked how one becomes enraptured, the Venerable Fray John of the Cross replied: by denying one’s own will and doing the will of God; for ecstasy is nothing else than going out of self and being caught up in God; and this is what he who obeys does; he leaves himself and his desire, and thus unburdened plunges himself in God”

“Love consists not in feeling great things but in having detachment and in suffering for the Beloved.”

I think these things are better than any levitation or vision.
