“Who do you say that I am?”

From Dr. Alice von Hildebrand:

“People think that philosophy teaches opinions,” which makes it hard to teach, “because everyone thinks they can disagree,” she said. “They make up their own minds — and then they get offended if they are challenged by truth.”

But actually, philosophy is the study of wisdom — of objective truth — she said. It teaches the individual to find truth. And “truth belongs to all,” von Hildebrand said: “You can’t act like only some have it — if it is true, it is true for all.”

As far back as the Greek philosophers Socrates and Plato, the mission of philosophy has been to uncover objective truth and then live by it, she said.

“If you are only interested in truth, you will find it,” she said. “If you know truth, you have to live up to it.” - Source
