Mrs. Pelosi and Democratic Theologians

Nancy Pelosi, armchair theologian corrected by the USCCB.

The Bishops of the United States have quickly pulled together and reiterated sound teaching on the abortion issue, in particular, the question of when human life begins, in order to refute the pretentious and deceptive statements made by the Speaker of the House and her cohorts - barking their wisdom and showing off their piety at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.   From the Wall Street Journal:

WASHINGTON, Aug 26, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — Cardinal Justin F. Rigali, chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop William E. Lori, chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Doctrine, have issued the following statement:

In the course of a “Meet the Press” interview on abortion and other public issues on August 24, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi misrepresented the history and nature of the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church against abortion.

In fact, the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.” (No. 2271)

In the Middle Ages, uninformed and inadequate theories about embryology led some theologians to speculate that specifically human life capable of receiving an immortal soul may not exist until a few weeks into pregnancy. While in canon law these theories led to a distinction in penalties between very early and later abortions, the Church’s moral teaching never justified or permitted abortion at any stage of development.

These mistaken biological theories became obsolete over 150 years ago when scientists discovered that a new human individual comes into being from the union of sperm and egg at fertilization. In keeping with this modern understanding, the Church teaches that from the time of conception (fertilization), each member of the human species must be given the full respect due to a human person, beginning with respect for the fundamental right to life.  - Market Watch

“She’s a pretty nice girl, but she doesn’t have a lot to say… she’s a pretty nice girl, but she changes from day to day.  Oh yeah, she’s a pretty nice girl” - but I wouldn’t want to make her mine… no, I wouldn’t want to make her mine.  (Beatles - Abbey Road:  “Her Majesty” - rearranged.)

Big thanks to Paula for this story.

American Papist is keeping track of the story — now referred to as Pelosi-gate.

They want to be Catholic (or at least make the claim publically) and at the same time hold on to power by falsely ironing out any contradictions that arise in the support of abortion, and the teachings of their Church.

Oh, Lord, they’re trying to serve two masters.

Mr. Leo , I found a photo of St. Augustine and God (Yep ,the almighty) discussing Ms. Nancy. Apparently she has become number one on the poor dear Saints list. The line forms with St.Augustine, St. John is in the wings, waiting patiently as saints do for his turn.

You better watch your step Ms.Nancy. The crap that you say is the same crap that your begining to step in.

Sorry it wont load. Apparently God says no , and they need their privacy concerning this matter. It’s a closed courtroom.

For Barack Obama, life doesn’t even begin at birth.

Obama worked vigorously to allow the actual infanticide of living, breathing babies born alive who survive attempted late-term abortions.

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=obama+%2B+“Born+Alive+I nfants+Protection+Act”

In 2002, Illinois legislators tried to pass the ‘Born Alive Infants Protection Act,’ mandating that babies born alive during an abortion must be treated like every other baby born prematurely. Obama actually led the opposition to the bill on three separate occasions.

A similar federal bill passed 98-0 that same year. Not even pro-abortion stalwarts Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Barbara Boxer opposed outlawing this clearcut practice of infanticide.

Congress heard testimony about babies surviving abortions — living, breathing babies — then being thrown into medical waste bins to die, or otherwise being ‘terminated’ outside the womb. (With the baby completely separated from the mother, it’s impossible to argue that the mother’s health or life is in jeopardy by giving the baby appropriate medical treatment).

Barack Obama has gone to great lengths to defend this ghastly procedure, both in Illinois and in the US Senate. He has also voted to allow the transport of minors across state lines for the purpose of obtaining abortions. Yes,we can!

What drives Obama to be even more pro-abortion than the pro-abortionists?

If he’s an extreme true believer who condones murder to assert ‘choice’ as the absolute principle, he has no judgment. OR if he’s being more stridently ‘pro-choice’ than most feminists to gain votes, he has no soul.

Either way, he’s a collaborator in mass-murder and is unfit to be president of the United States.
