I have one thing to say…

Posted by Terry Nelson on Aug 29th, 2008

You better work!

Sarah Palin.  Initially, I was disappointed - she wouldn’t have been my choice, neither would Tim Pawlenty have been.  It only matters what I think if I were to vote - and maybe I will now, and maybe I won’t.

So far what I’ve read of Mrs. Palin sounds good - especially her pro-life stance and proving it by giving birth to a wonderful child with Downs Syndrome.  (I love kids like that!)

Catholics seem happy about her - Gerald keeps commenting on Vox Nova how hot she is and accuses others of being sexist if they treat that in the negative.  I think he’s sexist for continually pointing out how hot she is.  Just proves we all say stupid stuff - so I better stop while I’m ahead.

What she will not do is steal disgruntled Hillary supporters - she’s pro-life and Hillary isn’t - along with an entire set of other differences… is that really how dumb the Republicans think women are?

They are saying Biden will eat her for lunch - listening to her acceptance speech, I doubt anyone will be able to do that.  Others say she is another Dan Quayle - I think she is far beyond him.  The other question - is she presidential?  (McCain may not live out his term.)  So the question must be asked in response;  “What is presidential?”  George Bush winking at the Queen or massaging the back of Angela Merkl?  I love the video of him dancing with Africans - I could watch it for hours.

Yeah, so I have one thing to say to Mrs. Palin:  “You better work!”  LOL!

(I think she is a wonderful choice BTW.)

I don’t know how I did it but I linked to Sancte Pater and got the video of President Bush dancing to work.  I hope that is okay Vincenzo.

I love a kid like that every single day. Forever.

Oh and Mr. Bush provided me with the bigest laughs, I am sure gonna miss watching his sweet moves ,and his stalker like back rubs.

Well, I knew he pick either a woman or Gov. Jindal.

    I think she’s a brilliant choice!

Most women in positions of influence get under my skin because they claim to represent women as they push for abortion, support immorality, and by turns ridicule and trash men and manliness. Well, I’m a woman, and they never have and never will represent me! So you can imagine my amusement this afternoon as I listened while a Clinton supporter fumed indignantly that Palin absolutely did NOT represent her as a woman! LOL! She was so ticked off that she was sputtering and repeating herself! Well, dang! I am raw-side-up excited that McCain’s new running mate is a woman who actually can represent me and my views!

Some of those who were being considered for McCain’s running mate are pro-abortion. And although I personally hope McCain lives in the White House for four years, in fact he is not immortal, and there will be several important appointments to be made by our next president. So many Americans are narcisistic and self-interested: Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness for me, me, me, but you don’t even get to have Life if it inconveniences me, disadvantages me, or merely confuses me. I want to see a government that will help us open our eyes and hearts to least of these, our littlest brothers and sisters. I hope that the McCain/Palin ticket will be just the ticket!

God bless you, Terry, and yours, including your readers.

    Extremely impressive lady!!!!

  6. Lee Anne Says:

She has a good and strong character - what woman in politics would “permit” herself to be “saddled” with a child who has downs syndrome? It would have been so much more convenient for her to have aborted her youngest son. After all, she already had four children…

What Mrs. Pallin has is what no other politician in the US has - and that is guts, intelligence and character. Now, if she is a smart about campaigning as she is about mothering, I see a GOP WIN in 2008!

    God Bless the USA

And for the record, I am one hundred percent against abortion and one hundred per cent pro-life. Ms. Palin is WHAT America needs

  10. Michael Jackson Says:

So why are you still apathetic about voting?

As far I can tell she rocks.

Who would you have picked instead?

  11. Terry Nelson Says:

Michael Jackson, I hope you had a nice birthday… I actually left the question open on voting. Who would I have chosen instead? Condolezza.

I just had dinner last night with a few people, including a couple of Obama supporters and they had nothing good to say about the woman, mocked her inexperience and small town resume, and called her an ex-beauty queen. I disagreed, but I disagree on many things and no one really cares.

I made clear that I’m happy with McCain’s choice and trust God.

  12. Alejandra Hall Says:

    Hi Terry,

I’m not sure how I feel about this VP choice.

If before I was sure I didn’t want to vote, now I am more confused about how I feel.

I’m tired of having to make my decision based only on the pro-life issue. And being a Catholic, I can’t vote for any pro choice candidate and have a clean conscience, let alone receive Holy Communion.

And yet, here I am presented with a “Pro life, family values” lady, who doesn’t think twice about her four month old down syndrome baby, who will be left to the custody of someone else while she pursues her political career. Is that what we call “family values”? Being pro life does not stop at birth. If she did not consider her special needs child before her career, can we trust her not to put her “values” in second place again when the time comes for political advancement?

The other fact that scares me is that McCain is an old man and should something happen to him, is this lady prepared to be president? What kind of foreign policy experience does she have?

With so many issues at stake, we are once again forced to vote for the lesser of two evils… And once again, I will have to discuss my vote with Fr. Altier, in whose guidance I trust with my life.

  13. Terry Nelson Says:

Lee - I’m not kidding - I could watch the video over and over. I’m really going to miss him when he is out of office.

  14. Terry Nelson Says:

Ale! Hi - I miss you. I hear what you are saying and can’t disagree. I think our dilemma is part of the chastisement.

  15. lizaanne Says:

I just love Sara Palin!! I think she will be an awesome VP - I love it that she is so REAL!!! Not a Washington insider who has never done anything else but politics.

    So excited!!

  16. Ray from MN Says:

    Hi, Ale!

I commented on this on another of Terry’s posts.

As Vice President, she would have far less duties than she has now as Governor.

Her only required duties are to vote in the Senate in the case of a tie, and that will probably be a remote possibility in the next Congress.

So she will have ceremonial and political duties only, which should leave her more time than she has now.

“I don’t know how I did it but I linked to Sancte Pater and got the video of President Bush dancing to work. I hope that is okay Vincenzo.”

No problem. It’s just an animated .gif - very easy to post :)

  18. michael Says:

I knew he was going to pick a woman. Condolezza would have cinched the election, imho. However, she is self-proclaimed ‘mildly pro-choice’ and he would have risked the conservative vote. I’m guessing that she told him no. Remember, she wants to become the commissioner of baseball, and she is serious about that. If she was willing, I still would have gone with her, as the relative inexperience of this other lady is going to become a liability, I think.

  19. Frank Says:

Do you love the mothers of kids with fetal alcohol syndrome? How is Sarah Palin any different? She chose neither to contracept nor to abstain from sex after her 43rd birthday. This increased the likelihood that Palin would have a genetically damaged child by more than 10 times. It was irresponsible and it injured a child.

  20. Belinda Says:

Dear Mr.Frank, Yes I do love the kids with fetal alcohol syndrome and their mothers, and also their fathers that often abandon them. I am willing to do some Catholic charities grunt work to prove it.

Mrs. Palin didn’t create this child ,God did, and perhaps your narrow view of this situation ,reflects poorly on the state of your spiritual health.

Let me remind you clearly ,that people that use birth control will surely go to hell when they die. Not because some old church fathers thought of this to make us miserable, but simply because creating souls is the work of God himself ,and we must not tamper with his will,or his work.

I have a child like this ,yet I will not use birth control even though I could find a Priest that would advise me that it would be okay. I am trusting in Gods mercy, and love in this situation.

In the lottery of life often times people are dealt crappy deals ,that at the time makes us angry, confused ,and filled with sorrow , but these are the times when God draws us closer to himself to learn the lessons necessary to abtain eternal life.

I would say with certainty that God will enjoy the pleasure of this boys company for all of eternity. Who could deny God that? God creates people that are imperfect. The person that you should be interrogating should be God himself. (can I watch)

If you have ever lived with a person like this you would understand the great joy that they bring to a family. This Palin family isn’t good enough for this child, only they don’t know it yet.

Mr.Frank, do the struggles, and sorrows of this world mean anything to God? Does it matter to him that we struggle to put food on the table or to clothe, and, house our 8 children? Does God notice the pain that I suffer with my disabled child? Does it even matter?

If my struggles, and sorrows, from the difficult decisions that I have made during my life count, then your lack of struggles, and sorrows speaks volumes.
We do not have the right to make only the choices in our lives that make or lives easier or more comfortable.

Why should you be able to kick back in life ,while others are working so hard to live a life that is pleasing to God. Um, you can’t.

Rise up ,and turn around ,we want you on our side , your going the wrong way. I am frightened for you because I know that God is gonna set your thinking straight just like he set me straight, and it will be very painful for you. God is a perfect parent ,and he doesn’t let us live in our sin forever.
He will do anything to draw us closer to himself ,even if he has to play hard ball with us, all to save us from an eternity in hell.

Hear that knock at your door that’s Saint hood ,it’s come a’ callin’ for you! Answer it ,and say “yes” . We need more team players.

  21. Frank Says:

    Belinda,
The Church told me as a gay man that I must abstain. I did so. So must you. You know where babies come from. You can’t shift the blame for a child’s suffering to God when your actions caused the suffering.

  22. Belinda Says:

I am in full union with my holy Catholic church. I have a Sanctioned marriage, and it’s lawful in the eyes of the church. I am not required to abstain. My marriage (relationship) can bring forth children ,yours could not,and should not ,and that is the whole point to Marriage, additionally we benefit from our companionship ,and we are called to help each other to get to heaven.

Don’t you think that by abstaining that I would produce a divorce, and then wouldn’t my children suffer?
Don’t I have an obligation to love ,and nurture my husband no matter how our children turn out?
Do you think that Margaret Sanger’s views on Eugenics is okay, if so then you would have to begin to form the line.

Isn’t loving our husbands what wives are called to do? To love our families to the fullest. Why should my husband be further punished by abstaining just because his daughter is handicapped. You aren’t expected to abstain because you have a handicapped child,or are handicapped, are you equating being gay with being handicapped??

You have to abstain because your sexual relationships are unlawful by church teaching.

We as a family ,welcome all new members either by birth, or by marriage. We have no restrictions on appearances or abilities or of cognitive skills. Hey, if your family your “in”. We take what God gives us, with a grateful heart.

Why do gay people think that they are the only ones who suffer for their faith ,or because of it? Why do you think that your cross is much heavier than mine? Why do you feel punished by it? I don’t have the luxury to pick ,and choose a perfect people to pal around with so to speak ,and you don’t either.
If God chooses to make these handicapped people with issues then tell me ,wouldn’t they be better off in my home than other peoples homes? The souls that are created by God for God must never be denied there opportunity for existence, no matter how deformed or disordered ,and it is NEVER the right of someone else to decide who should be born or who should die ,nor who should procreate or who should not.

Don’t you think that your life has enormous value to God. Don’t you think that your existence is very important to God ,and to his kingdom? Your not quite normal some would say, but tell me who is ? God finds you irresistible, adorable, and he is completely in love with you, and doesn’t want to live an eternity without you. He longs for you ,and aches for you. No one can fill your place in his heart ,because that place was made for only you.
I wish you the Peace of Christ, and all of the joy that accompanies him. God bless you.

  23. Frank Says:

I also have to abstain because sexual relations between males carry a high risk of HIV transmission. I am HIV negative. I intend to stay that way. More importantly, I intend never to infect anyone else. This was a right-to-life issue because I got tested in 1984 because I was concerned about casual transmission. My sister-in-law was pregnant with my niece. I knew that children often drink after adults and was afraid of infecting my niece.
So, I got tested. I was negative, but I swore that I would never give that disease to anyone. So I abstain. Your refusal to abstain may not be problematic for the Church, but beyond a certain age child bearing will drastically increase the incidence of genetic defects and lead to the suffering of a defenseless child. You are faced with the same problem I though I was. You have to abstain.

As for the weight of crosses, isn’t that completely subjective and unknowable?

  24. Frank Says:

    Belinda,

Is it right for the Church to decide who should live and who should die? I would like to be in a chaste domestic partnership, but the Pope, writing as Cardinal Ratzinger, has said that I should not have the right to insure a partner under my own heatlh plan and vice versa. In fact, he says that none of the considerations commonly afforded to married couples can be afforded to domestic partners.

The question is not who has the larger cross to bear but who has the rights to add to the burden of another’s cross.

Sarah Palin and her supporters want to add to my cross. She and they support denial of equal access to insurance and, therefore, healthcare.

I just turned the tables and made her personal life an issue and presumed to manage it for her (and you, as it happens).

How does it feel to have the tables turned?

How does it feel to have someone unqualified and presumptuous sit in judgment of your life and possibly even use the political process to enforce those bad judgments?

  25. Belinda Says:

Dear Mr.Frank, If you are abstaining from sex with anyone other than your Married spouse, recognized by church teaching, then that brings you in union with the church.

You must be carrying your cross just fine. Cross’s are not bought off of a rack, they are custom made, with each having different weights, sizes ,and splinters.
Even children have them. Have you ever seen a child with Cancer carry their cross? I have ,and I realized that I don’t carry mine well,in fact I kinda suck.

You have to understand something, my retarded child is not suffering, and if you asked her, if she would choose life or death, I am positive that she would want to live, and to the fullest ,complete with Estee Lauder cosmetics, and Aeropostal clothing, oh and the stupid Catholic uniform that goes to her knees “gosh”.(Yep my kid IS Napoleon Dynamite.)

I would have broken Gods heart had I denied him this child,
and the world wouldn’t be as funny. Lord knows your not cracking anybody up!

Just because her life isn’t the kind of life that you think it should be doesn’t make it any less valuable than yours.

If my natural family planning which, there again falls within Church teaching, fails to work then so be it . We dont take only perfect family members.

I tell you ,every soul that God sends must be welcomed ,and loved.

You are missing the big picture here. You seem to have tunnel vision, God is preparing us for bigger ,and better things to come.
He is looking for souls (Marines) who are willing to love him ,and serve him for an eternity.
If you find this an impossible task now, then perhaps you dont have the right stuff for an eternity in his presence.(Our Catholic church provides us with the equipment, “sacraments,” that we need to get the job done. )

Today is slipping away, it’s the future that we must look to. We are working ,and building a foundation for our eternity.

If God did not want these children , wouldn’t he stop making them? Can you see beyond the sufferings of this time, and look beyond, to the final goal.

A chaste domestic partnership is an oxymoron, not possible. Living as brothers in Christ IS possible, and THAT would be chaste.

Your swimming against the tide. Can you try floating for a while so you can take a bit of a breather, the continual struggle against the will of God is tiring, and impossible ,and you will never find peace.

I am all for people having personal freedom. You can stand toe to toe with Satan ,look him in the eye ,and say “NO”, but
I dont want people like you to spread your errors ,in faith, judgement, and sin, to my children .

God bless you dear Mr. Frank,
I pray for you ,and for your needs, I pray that God sends you his peace. The peace that is only obtained through his holy Catholic church ,and his sacraments.
(Seriously otherwise I would be in some gutter right now, dazed ,and confused , with ice cream drool running from the corner of my lips.)

I hope ,and pray that Jesus sends the coolest handicapped kid your way today. Maybe you could trip over their cross. It would be good for you to fall on your face, a perfect position to pray, and beg for Gods mercy. Pray for me while your there. God bless you.
I will pray for you today ,and 10 people that you love.

  26. Frank Says:

    Belinda,

You’re an unfit mother. You’re also a hypocrite and a bigot and a slut.

  27. Frank Says:

I’ve never broken that Oath to be celibate. I only want a roommate that I can share health insurance with. I’m a cancer patient. If I lose my job that’s it.

So go to hell, you self-righteous slut.

  28. Belinda Says:

Dear Mr.Frank ,Did I push the wrong buttons?
My husband who has eyes only for me ,helps to run our city fire department ,and he is very good at it ,and he loves me.
My daughter who is a chemist ,and thinking about marrying a very sweet Catholic doctor loves me.
My daughter who is in film school in L.A. is learning to make films for your entertainment pleasure, she loves me.
My daughter in College studying to be a teacher for the learning disabled loves me.
My learning disabled child, now she hates me because I hold her accountable much like I am holding you accountable.
Then my next daughter is learning to become a Nun even at 15.
My next daughter loves ,and nurtures pets.
Then my next daughter is brilliant but emotionally disturbed as you are, and my son is a future fireman, or hunter, or professional camper,or something it changes every day!

So the fact that you “DONT love me cause’s me no sleep loss.

Sometimes on occasion I am a bit of a hypocrite, like when I say to my children “dont eat that it’s bad for you ” then I eat it myself. I am a work in progress, a daughter of the most high God , created from his mind for his viewing pleasure. I doubt that he likes it that you say such awful things.

I am sooo very sorry to hear that your a cancer patient I bet that, that issue often brings you too your knees.
Pray for me and my family while your there ,because people who suffer like you are have Gods complete attention, he gives them the desires of their hearts. He can not resist the people who suffer especially when it is offered in union with Jesus ,and the sufferings that he endured for you ,and for me. God bless you, Mr.Frank
    :)

  29. Belinda Says:

By the way, I am a good Mom, I know , because I had one that wasn’t.

Would you care for a nice warm toll house cookie
dear Mr.Frank? How about a glass of milk to go with that cookie. :) Then when your finished you need to go and sit on the naughty mat.

  30. Belinda Says:

Dear Mr.Frank, I was thinking about our little talk that we had yesterday, and I was hoping ,and praying that you are feeling better today.

I am making some homemade chicken noodle soup ,and some cookies that would make “Martha Stewart” cry with envy ,while she eats her farm fresh eggs, and home made pancakes with homemade blueberry syyrrrip.(Her words not mine)

Then I thought that it might be nice if I could run some of this soup right over to you as some sort of a peace offering, but then it occurred to me that you might “Kill” me instead.

So then I decided that I might brighten your day with a little visual aid. My daughter is an animator wanna be ,and she had this old high school work of hers laying around ,and I thought that you might enjoy it.

Peace be with you, and God bless you.

(What my husband dislikes most about me is that I always have to have the last word, and I can never let stuff go. I will talk to Jesus about it at adoration )
