Blessed John XXIII

Though Blessed John XXIII died on June 3, 1962, his liturgical feast is October 11, the same date as the opening of the first session of the Second Vatican Council, which began in 1962. Pope John had been elected to the Throne of St. Peter fifty years ago on October 28, 1958, just nineteen days after the death of Pius XII.
